Dramatic has always been what Klaus Paier conjured out of the bandoneon and his self-constructed accordion "Passion". Whether solo, in a long-standing duo with cellist Asja Valcic, recently also with bassist Florian Dohrmann, in a trio or with string quartet - thanks to his unique technique, his unmistakable individual style and his compositional imagination, Paier is one of the great genre-encompassing storytellers of his instrument. An art that was only waiting for the large format. In his first orchestral project, Paier is now making this a reality with 22 string and wind players of the "Camerata Sinfonica Austria". The orchestra, co-founded in 2017 by pianist and conductor Davorin Mori, already established through outstanding performances at important festivals, sees itself as a soloist ensemble along the lines of Arnold Schönberg's famous Viennese "Verein für musikalische Privataufführungen" and is thus the ideal sound body for Paier's demanding compositions. Together, they unroll a musical feature film of five compositions on "View to Horizon," including the multi-part "Premiere Suite" and "Five Musical Moments." From the listener's fulminating "Rise up to fly" to the sultry "Awaken from Dreams" to the opulent "Sunset", Paier virtuously combines his soloist's part with the various orchestral instrumentations to create an opulent sound adventure integrated into a stringent dramaturgy. From pensive lyricism to a wild storm of melody, Paier awakens all emotions in the listener. While the "Cinema Scenes" with Asja Valcic five years ago were a grandiose intimate series of sound pictures for the inner eye, the "View to Horizon" is now truly great cinema.
