Mr. Käfer is a Cologne-based beatmaker and producer. While there is no mistaking the early influence of the jazz greats and 90s hip hop, Mr. Käfer has a dynamic sound that continues to develop. His music is nostalgic but understated, with deep introspective vibes. Originally from Austria, Mr. Käfer draws creative inspiration from nature and from his travels in the world as well as other artists in the scene. He studied Audio Design in Salzburg and has released on Postpartum Records, Chillhop Music, Melting Pot Music, and others. His six song debut EP with Nettwerk Music Group, Inner Mirrors, was released last January with numerous editorial and streaming successes. Now, he returns with another six track EP: Underneath. Underneath, the new EP by Mr. Käfer is best described as instrumental hiphop that is rooted in jazz & soulful music. Always striving to bring in new soundscapes to his introspective and nostalgic sound, Mr. Käfer once more bridges the old with the new and creates beats that are true to its hip hop origins while taking in futuristic and spacious elements from other genres. Mr. Käfer thought of the EP title as a closer look at what lies at the core of one's own habits, dreams, aims, etc. - removing layer by layer to discover what is underneath and essential for oneself. About focus track "Only One You", Mr. Käfer says, "This song is a title that refers to the love I personally have for instrumental hip-hop and hip-hop in general. Music rooted in jazz and soul. The creative process started with laying down a groovy bass line and some crisp drums - later, I added some mellow piano keys and synth pads and found myself vibing to this bouncy yet relaxed and lush mood."
