We talked about the pains of success and pains of how it gets ripped away and the pains of knowing there’s a journey to be had but not knowing exactly how that is going to unfold. I had a top 10 record and months later I’m dropped from my label in the middle of a global pandemic. The journey felt confusing. But songs like this kept me connected to my humanity."
