With roots in Houston, Texas, atmospheric/lo-fi artist Samuel Proffitt, grew up entrenched in various genres from screamo and punk to indie, folk, and jazz; however, his musical origins lie in his own writing, poetry, and interest in philosophy. "I wrote this when I was in Surry, Maine for my birthday, on a solo writing retreat." says Samuel Proffitt. "I was working through a lot of things at the time—intense depression, anxiety, panic attacks, etc. This song was incredibly organic, in the sense that it came together very quickly and it, especially the chorus and the outro, somehow was able to express a lot of what was going on underneath my skin."
