Space Dogs

Space Dogs

“Totally sensuous, seductive, and sexy. Cardenas‘ near-whispering voice lifts this trippy mid-tempo groove to a midnight hour sensation” — Turn Up The Volume “A distinctive attitude and personality, making for a confident and idiosyncratic sound” — Various Small Flames ‘Space Dogs’ is the second single from Red Peril, featuring Madonnatron singer and guitarist Stefania F. Cardenas and Dexter Krenal (Pregoblin, ex-Misty Miller). The song invites you on a voyage through the galaxy, where the only rule aboard the spaceship is to succumb to its hypnotic, infectious beat. In contrast to the hip-hop influenced rhythm of the debut single ‘Bollywood Gangsta’, ‘Space Dogs’ relies on swirling synthesizers and a pounding disco beat inspired by the story of Laika, the stray dog that was launched into orbit aboard the Soviet satellite Sputnik. The accompanying music video by revered independent videographer and photographer Lou Smith (featured in The Evening Standard, NME) portrays a demiurge figure from outer space interfering with human affairs, merging band shots with stylised, futuristic AI-generated footage. ‘Space Dogs’ is proudly DIY in its nature, being written, produced and mixed by Cardenas and Krenal in their London home studios. ________________________________________ Bio Rising from the ashes of Madonnatron, Red Peril is the new endeavour of the London-based Italian-Mexican musician Stefania F. Cardenas. As co-founder, singer and guitarist of Madonnatron, Cardenas crafted the raw and dark atmospheres that characterised the band's sound. In her new project, she is conjuring behind drum machines and synthesizers, casting mystical spells reminiscent of Italo Disco and post-punk, with Dexter Krenal (Pregoblin, ex-Misty Miller) thickening the sonic waves with his guitar and backing vocals. Their carnal and intimate narrations evoke the sultry imagery of post-war pulp magazines. After releasing two critically acclaimed albums, Madonnatron dissolved before releasing a much-awaited third album… If you ever wondered what the third would sound like, the answer is here - Red Peril’s setlist consists of songs originally intended for Madonnatron. ________________________________________ “Space Dogs is a song about trusting the wrong people. It’s a reflection on loneliness and the extreme things people do when they are desperate for love and have nothing left to lose. Sometimes the only thing you can do is shoot for the stars. It might work out, It might not…” – Red Peril
