Shades is a track shining light on the way we move through life disguising ourselves best we can so that people don’t see our quirky, unattractive qualities. It’s about how hiding our true selves to please others is in reality just making us feel more separated and disconnected. If we all realised that we are more similar than we know, when we let ourselves loose with our intrinsic patterns of behaviour and instinctual habits which tie us all together. We are constantly searching for a way to be original and different, instead of just sitting with our authentic selves, which if we did would naturally bring out all our individual traits and characteristics anyway. The need to be this ideal/perfect version of yourself is suffocating us all and meaning that we aren’t living in the moment or embracing our flaws, instead we are restricting ourselves from being able to learn from our mistakes and change our ways of thinking, so we can teach others to do the same.
