M. Byrd says about Seed (In Bloom): "After the original version of "Seed" was more of an intro to the album, I wanted to work on a longer version of it. I started sketching out some ideas for the rest of the song in Castelbuono, Sicily, where I spent two weeks working on new material. I recorded a rough sketch of Seed again, just acoustics, my vocals and some sounds, everything on my laptop with a SM7 microphone. When it was done, I knew the sketch would be a perfect base for other artists to find a space and I immediately thought of Philine who played some shows with us two years ago. Her sense of arranging vocals and writing melodies is so delicate and beautiful, so I asked her to take the second verse. During the same time I met Marcel (Orbit) a few weeks ago in his home in Bremen and it felt so welcoming and even though we just met it was like we had known each other for a long time. I don't get that feeling very often with people and the way he shapes sounds and weaves his signature into arrangements really inspired me. So all in all, I wanted to use the simplistic approach and structure of the song as an experiment to remotely work with people I very much appreciate and encourage them to find their space in the music and elevate / shape the song. It feels good to see, that there is a community that is starting to build around the album and the music we make and I am so excited to further grow it with Philine and Marcel."
