Slipstream is Mark Refoy and Jonny Mattock, both of whom were in the first line up of Spiritualized. Mark formed Slipstream in 1994, Radio Game is their new release, a double EP of 8 songs in total. It’s the band’s first new material since the 'Liberty' album in 2021. The lead song Radio Game is an homage to the life of Noor Inayat Kahn, the polymath turned WW2 spy who gave her life in the name of liberty. EP 1 features a cover of Song To The Siren, a song originally sung by Tim Buckley. All other songs were written by Mark Refoy, ably assisted by Jonny Mattock. All songs were mixed and mastered by Pete Gleadall, the renowned producer, engineer and musician who has worked with Pet Shop Boys for 30 + years. 1. Song To The Siren Our cover of the famous Tim Buckley song but most people are probably more familiar with the This Mortal Coil version from the 80s. When I sent the demo to Pete Gleadall his reply was "well that's five minutes of my life I'm never getting back." Needless to say, he didn't like it. However I persisted and assured Pete he could make it work and, well, that's exactly what he's done.
