Sleepdealer is a Tokyo-based instrumental hip-hop producer from Santa Barbara, California. Gaining attention during the golden era of SoundCloud, Sleepdealer's 2016 and 2017 beat tapes garnered significant attention and traction as music began to migrate over to new streaming platforms. Sleepdealer's 2016 album, Yerba, for example, has over 50 million streams on Spotify alone, with standout track "Rolling Papers" continuing to stream over 300k a week. Despite many collaborative singles and standalone tracks over the years, Sleepdealer hasn't released a proper album since 2020. That all changes in 2024. Straying from sample flips and focusing on original compositions, Sleepdealer is now ready to share the new chapter of his musical saga. Continuing with dreamy melodies and late night beats, synth-heavy jams and cosmic soundscapes, his lush and eclectic style of lofi music will leave you in a hypnotized state. New single "Parasomnia" takes it title from sleepwalking, or perhaps really intense daydreaming. The guitar-driven track remains stuck in the nighttime, as is often the case with the sound of Sleepdealer, but this one feels a little more indie rock, a little more bedroom lofi, a little more grunge and grit. It's still sparkling, albeit with a bit more chords.
