Following the brisk sales and critical acclaim of albums such as The Swan and Romance, cellist Han-Na Chang continues to expand her seemingly limitless range with an album of Vivaldi's glorious Cello Concertos. These works are deep not only in register but also in substance and feeling, taking full advantage of the cello's diverse expressive capabilities. For Chang, Vivaldi represents the "liveliness of harmony and rhythm . . . It is in the colors and forms that he creates. Also, the small orchestra needed for a Vivaldi concerto -- a small ensemble of strings and harpsichord that improvises during the solo -- creates an immediacy between the cello and the orchestra." These performances between Chang and the London Chamber Orchestra under Maestro Warren-Green capture that collaborative spirit at its fullest, and the results are a joy to hear.
