Throughout “Man on the Moon,” lithely strummed acoustic guitar balances atop a delicate beat warmed by violin and cello. In terms of the lyrics, Scandinavian alternative folk artist Freyr paints a vivid picture as his voice swoons on the hummable hook. “It could be about the current situation the world is in, an impossible relationship, or mysticism,” he reveals. “It’s supernatural. I felt like I was writing a bit of sci-fi. You’re supposed to imagine who the ‘Man on the Moon’ is. The music felt mystical, so that’s how I wrote the lyrics.”
