Emily Stewart, born in London and raised in Costa Rica, is a classically trained jazz violinist and violist and lives in Vienna, Austria, since 2002. From an early age she dealt with improvisation and various other musical styles, which made her a very sought-after artist, especially in experimental and crossover projects. In addition, she often works as a studio musician for various productions and is a member of the Viennese pop band Neuschnee, the retro film music band Velvet Elevator Orchestra, KVIN and the contemporary piano quintet by bassist Philipp Kienberger. As a theater musician, she has been cooperating with the American performance group Saint Genet since 2016 and has been engaged at the Vienna Burgtheater since 2017. Her recent projects include her participation in the “Tribute to Jan Johansson” by the Swedish jazz pianist Jan Lundgren, with whom she has been performing throughout Europe since 2016, and most recently in the live band from Soap&Skin.
