‘’Lost Ways’’ is double bassist Giuseppe Pipitone’s first album as composer and leader. Bringing in three glamorous musicians — clarinettist Nicola Giammarinaro, guitarist Dario Salerno and drummer Joe Santoro — Pipitone delves into the timbres of the clarinet and guitar, and paints his sounds through the inspirations of the tastefully old bebop, and brushes on top with modern blues and folk. The result is ‘’Lost Ways’’: a series of unique tonal narratives formed by the engaging conversations between the four musicians. The album is also a tribute to heritage and tradition, without clinging on to nostalgia, while appreciating the influences from the past, and present.
