'Let Go' is the latest EP from Somerset based singer-songwriter Jolé (real name Josh Oliver). Writing this record coincided with a global period of hardship, which ultimately became a coming-of-age of sorts. Marked by personal loss, fatherhood, and the patient realisation of what he wants to achieve in his life: “This EP is about loss. I lost two of my grandparents, pretty close together, and I hadn’t been able to see them for two years during COVID. The songs deal with this, with not being able to see the ones you love, while also looking through earlier memories of our time together. The EP is about becoming an adult, experiencing loss, and becoming a father.” Grounded in indie folk, 'Let Go' is evocative of surfy, west coast singer-songwriters like Ben Howard, as well the woodsy beauty of Bon Iver, Novo Amor and Hazlett. 'Stay' channels more ambient production with programmed beats and synths, but still grounded in acoustic guitar underpinning soft vocals. Written during a difficult period, knowing that someone you care for is ready to let go no matter how much you might want them to stay: "Mainly this song is about being torn between staying and leaving and all the emotions in between.
