I wrote this during the pandemic. I was unemployed and for the first time in many years, I was able to explore my relationship with my creative work and with motivation in general without the stressors of capitalism that I was used to. I realized I'm a very sleepy person, which I had guessed at, but had been able to resist in the beforetimes when my life was sort of moving like a machine. So, during the pandemic, I really longed for a greater sense of purpose - something to help me resist the urge to nap, or the urge to just stare into space. And I thought a lot about how, with capitalism, there's this baseline fear, mingled with hope, that keeps us all hustling. So "keep moving" was something I started singing to myself around the house, as I resisted naptime and tried to find a sense of inner motivation, unrelated to fear, to keep me engaged with my creative work, and to keep me grounded. I really enjoy singing this song and it was really fun, after so much isolation, to play it with my super band.
