Justify

Justify

LA-based pop singer-songwriter, Rosie Darling, is known for her signature flowing melodies and gut-wrenching lyrics. “Justify” is a turning point for Rosie, on this track she is choosing to say “no” to toxicity and gaslighting. She elaborates saying the song “comes from a place of realizing that no matter how much you care about someone, if they aren’t treating you as an equal, it’s not a relationship you want to have anyway. If you’re constantly holding onto the good in someone and ignoring the red flags, there will come a point where you will have to choose yourself and this song represents that moment to me.” The track starts off as a reflective interpersonal conversation backed by a simple acoustic guitar line with the clever hook “I’m so sick of your silver linings and always tryin’ to justify why you treat me this way.” The song culminates with Rosie making up her mind to leave in a triumphant build. Rosie’s clear vocals evoke some of her favorite contemporaries including Chelsea Cutler, Julia Michaels, & Lizzy McAlpine. Produced with collaborator Justin Gammella (FINNEAS, Ashe) and mixed by Yianni AP (Alexander 23, Jeremy Zucker).
