"Paris-based artist Marina Trench has been on a steady upwards trajectory over the past few years, her debut material surfaced on the esteemed DJ Deep helmed Deeply Rooted imprint and further releases have come via WOLF Music and Dam Swindle's Heist since. Here, Marina steps out on her own for her first self-released EP while welcoming some friends in on remix duties. Opening the release and perfectly setting the tone is 'Something', a hypnotic introduction fusing airy pad swells, modulating percussion and vocoder style vocals. Title-cut 'Free Mind' follows, embracing Trench's classic silky smooth aesthetic via stuttering chord sequences and robust swinging drums running alongside gritty stabs and airy vocal chants. 'Overcome' is up next, employing a downtempo aesthetic with jazzy broken drums, wandering chords and twinkling keys throughout. Berlin House maestro Cinthie then reworks 'Free Mind', bringing an uplifting piano driven touch to the original before London's Anna Wall takes things down a contrasting route with her take on 'Free Mind', opting for gritty percussion, dubbed out stab swells and elongated sub bass tones."
