People Of The Light continue their fine run of form as the summer season arrives with Subjacent’s ‘Elward’ EP. The San Francisco/Philly based female duo have caused quite the stir offering up a blend of techno and melodic with recent works gaining support of John Digweed, Tom Pooks & Emanate to name a few. They are joined on ‘Elward’ with Just Her and label head honcho Jay Hill who both step up on remix duty. The title track kicks off proceedings with rich synth swells and icey hats paving the way to an ethereal vocal that stands proud amongst flurries of melodic offerings. ‘Dislocate’ ups the energy as rolling techno drums pound from the off and snippets of acidic elements cascade throughout the production. Just Her’s take on ‘Elward’ welcomes an irresistible breaks groove and soft yet engaging melodic top lines whilst still allowing the original vocal work to shine bright. Closing the show; Jay Hill delivers an atmospheric rework, stripping it back with echoing drum hits, warm pads and electro infused bass line.
