Morningsiders formed at Columbia University and piqued the interest of many after their song “Empress” was featured in a 2015 Starbucks commercial with the sensational Oprah Winfrey. Since then, they have carved a name for themselves in the mood-lifting indie-folk pop space, with their songs often featuring impressive string sections. They’re returning with a new EP titled “Easy Does It” out October 8th, produced by celebrated maestro Peter Katis (The National, Local Natives). On this project, the trio is set to expand their reach while still retaining the moments of brilliant musicianship and quirky sonic maneuvering that first earned them notice. The focus track “Sunbeam” is an upbeat song, showcasing the band’s technical skills and affinity for traditional music. The movement of the song “adds a bit to that manic mindset of being so wrapped up in someone that you’re not being totally fair to yourself.”
