In the making of Bay Ledges’ sophomore album Rivers, singer/songwriter/producer Zach Hurd brought his inventive musicality to a body of work partly written in response to the death of several family members, infusing each track with equal parts unguarded feeling and unfettered imagination. Bay Ledges pushes into previously unexplored sonic terrain and incorporates such unexpected elements as a galvanizing guitar solo on this record. “With this album I felt inspired by the bands from the ’90s that I loved as a kid, which meant using a lot of distortion and going for a sort of grittiness with the guitars,” he points out.
