Dead On Arrival

Dead On Arrival

Hailing from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, The Haunt are an alt-rock band reminiscent of the alt-rock bands of the 2010s co-founded and led by siblings Anastasia Grace Haunt [vocals] and Maxamillion “Max” Haunt [guitar, production] and rounded out by Nat Smallish [bass], and Nick Lewert [drums]—conjure a singular vision equally steeped in jazz-pop noir and controlled industrial chaos.. Growing up in South Florida, Max and Anastasia found themselves surrounded by music. They studied piano and developed divergent sonic palettes. A Nine Inch Nails concert left Max under the spell of heavier industrial, while his younger sister and self-described “old soul” Anastasia obsessed over classics from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. During high school, Max started to pursue music in earnest, composing nonstop on guitar and piano. In the meantime, Anastasia cut her teeth at open mics (a cappella) at just nine-years-old. Within three years, they built a buzz around the Miami scene as a two-piece before welcoming Nat and Nick to the fold. The Haunt are emerging as a dynamic and dangerous force as visceral as they are vulnerable and vital. “OVERDOSE” is about the anxiety and fear that comes with loving or caring about an addict. The uncertainty of which person you will get from one day to the next. It’s like living in a state of constant worry about what might happen. The lyric ”can’t fall asleep at night” really capture that for me and I know a lot of people dealing with addiction can relate to how that feels.
