Dylan Dunlap leaves his bedroom for a new body of work that has been masterfully crafted with some of Los Angeles’ top players. Inspired by albums like Coldplay’s Parachutes, Dunlap decided to take a studio-forward, band-driven approach to his new batch of songs and enlisted famed mixer Michael Brauer, the very person who mixed Parachutes, as well as music by John Mayer, Dean Lewis and James Bay. “Crave” is a hauntingly beautiful song about addiction. The lyrics serve as an internal dialogue about the complicated relationship people have with those who struggle with addictions. Dylan’s vulnerable vocals juxtaposed with the soaring chorus create a sense of urgency within the track. The song builds towards its end, creating a feeling of resolution and acceptance that we can offer love regardless of whether people are capable of receiving it or not.
