John Hayes is a multi-instrumentalist and producer from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Hayes previously performed regularly as the resident pianist for the award-winning Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. John currently writes, records and produces music out of his studio in Denver, Colorado. Speaking about the creative process behind his song "Changeless", Hayes shares, "it was a track I originally started writing on the piano. The main riff originated from me just playing that same melody over and over again, which is actually how a lot of ideas are born for me. I ended up taking the riff and playing it through my Moog Minitaur, which was a bit of an odd choice since that synth is primarily used for bass sounds. I wanted to make a challenge for myself on this track and find a way to make this same riff interesting throughout the length of the track. Once I had the track arranged in a way that made sense, it was all about small edits and adding little points of interest throughout. I like making small challenges like this when I'm working in the studio. With all the tools available to us now, sometimes you can run into 'decision paralysis.' When that happens these challenges really help me to focus my creativity on the main idea of the song."
