The recording of these three Bach suites nos. 2, 3 and 6 for violoncello solo was made in preparation for a concert that took place in the crypt of the Ursulinenkirche in Linz in 1997. “Today, more than a quarter of a century later, I hear this recording, of course, from the perspective of a long recording career and with an equally long personal history with these works, which have remained a center of my concert activity”, says Martin Rummel, who has captured the unique atmosphere of this place with this album, creating an extraordinary and special listening experience.
