Always The Sound (Single Edit)

Kormac celebrates launch of limited edition Equivalent Exchange vinyl package - a collaboration with legendary street artist, Maser, and releases new single, Always The Sound (Feat. MayKay). In his work as a producer, live artist and film composer, Kormac is known for twisting his organic recordings into widescreen electronica. On his latest record - Equivalent Exchange - Kormac, for the first time, writes an orchestral suite of music, often aimed at the dance floor, featuring Irish Chamber Orchestra, rapper Jafaris, vocalists Loah and Jack O’ Rourke alongside Persian/Irish multi-instrumentalists Shahab & Shayan Coohe. To celebrate the launch of this strictly limited edition package we’re delighted to release the next single from the album featuring Fight Like Apes vocalist and Other Voices presenter, MayKay. On the track’s release Kormac says: “Always The Sound is actually the title of a poem my Mum wrote before she died in 2018. MayKay was in my studio one night recording with me for another project. I picked twenty words out of the poem my mother had written, scribbled them down and handed them to her. I then played her an instrumental track I’d been working on - largely made from recordings I’d made of the Irish Chamber Orchestra and sounds I’d recorded from 3 Moog synthesisers here in the studio.. She put headphones on and sang the words off the page whatever way felt right, whatever melodies or rhythm sprang to mind, she sang. I chopped the recording up and assembled them to create the finished track. That’s where the song title and my record label’s name comes from, from my Mum’s poem.”
